Vacationing as a family

When Shane and Dallin finally made it into town (late Monday night) we had a lot of fun to fit into not a lot of days. Shane was headed out for Las Vegas the next evening, so we spent Tueday doing a family activity; or activities.
We started at the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center in Balboa Park. It is newly remodeled. Actually, it is more then remodeled. I don't thing anything is the same. It is pretty darn cool, and it was fun to see my friend Kymberly Luke Mellon in the newly shot movie!
They took our picture as we became honorary members of the Mormon Battalion! After that we went outside to pretend we were living back in the time of the Mormon Battalion! We panned for gold. . .

Pumped the water; It was a lot of wet work, but that was okay, because the kids were hot.

Took inventory of our riches. . . .
Rode in covered wagons (That was the 'cushy way'; they really walked)
And then posed for the pictures I always make them let me take!
(It was VERY sunny, and it was the middle of the day, so looking relaxed to have your picture taken? Very hard to do.)

Group Picture!
We were worried about the cannon in front . . .
But hey, we had a big metal Mormon Battalion guy to watch over us!
After this we made our requisite trek to the candy store to get fudge, we also got Tacey some Aspirin; she wasn't feeling good. Then we went to RUBIO'S because it was. . .
FISH TACO TUESDAY!
Oh how I dearly love fish Taco Tuesday. . .
Then off to the Zoo for animals and Ice Cream.
Then we took Shane to the Airport.
It was a nice day. However, the next day not only was Tacey still fevered and sick, McCade had joined her. I would LOVE, one day, to have a vacation where someone isn't sick. Maybe that will be when I go alone. . .
