Football Victories and Disappointments

Okay, so I know very little about sports; that is a given. So, I didn't realize that Dallin would miss the first two weeks of football practice when I planned vacation. I honestly thought vacation would be during the only two free weeks we seemed to find all summer. Anyway, it has made football hard for Dallin. He has been put in several positions, but never in one long enough to really feel like he knew what he was doing. Today, he played, and got his job done. I was 'close' enough to get pictures of him on the field. He played on the defensive line. I would tell you what position, but honestly, I really have no clue what it was called.

Again Shane was out of town, so I texted him the game. The text narration went like this:

7:03 - We are defense

7:04 - Touchdown them

7:05 - No extra point

7:06 - They can punt!

7:07 - Our ball - 2nd & feet

7:08 - 1st down

7:10 - 4th down

7:11 - Our defense is out

7:12 - 3rd down

7:14 - 4th down. Our Ball. 40ish

7:16 - 1st down

7:17 - 1yd & goal. 1st

7:18 - repeat down, 5 yd. penalty

7:19 - quarter

7:20 - 3rd down

7:21 - missed the pass

7:22 - 1st down them

7:23 - 3rd down

7:24 - 4th

7:25 - 4th down they 'jumped' ?

7:26 - Our ball on the 19

7:28 - 3rd & Goal

7:28 - their ball

7:29 - 3:20 left in half

7:31 - 1st them

7:32 - 1st & goal them

7:33 - touchdown them

7:53 - player on their side down. Ah, he's fine. he ran off the field.

7:54. 4th down. now our 1st

7:57 - 25 yd line

7:58 - 5yd penalty us.

7:58 - QB sack. 35 yd line

1:48 in quarter

8:00 - 3rd. Receiver hit in the air.

8:02 Dallin in! We just sacked their QB

8:11 - LONG pass. maybe 25 yds?

8:14 - close to first

8:14 - missed 1st

8:15 - Dallin in. we are defense

8:18 - 4:40 left in game. Dal still in

8:19 - punt. offense in. 35ish yd line

8:21 - 2nd

8:21 - flag. I dunno, holding? On Shelley

8:26 - 3rd down them

8:27 - less than a minute left

8:27 - 15 sec left. Time Out

8:30 - Shelley run for Touchdown. pushed out at 5 yd line.

8:30 - game over

Looking at this, I think it is a good thing I have unlimited texting on my phone!

In the end, the kids now get learn that you don't always win. They lost 12-0. BUT, Dallin played more this game than in any other, so it was also a victory. So, as life teaches it always the bitter with the sweet. We love you Dallin!
